Lead Digital Strategist


Lead Digital Strategists (LDS) at Veracity have 3+ years of digital-specific experience working for a digital strategy firm, or in house at a political or advocacy campaign, or party committee. They have experience managing or mentoring a team and are the ultimate problem-solvers. As managers to digital strategists at Veracity they not only have deep digital fundraising chops, but also a proven ability to coach and transfer their abilities to direct reports.

This role is roughly 60% client work and 40% team management work.

Experience and Skills

  • 3+ or more years of experience raising money online for a political or issue-based campaign, nonprofit or democrat allied organization or agency.

  • 2-3+ years of client-facing experience, preferably with experience managing multiple accounts or projects simultaneously. You know how to earn a client's trust and come on board as a partner.

  • 1+ years experience as a manager or a mentor. Major plus to have managed direct reports, but we will consider candidates who have experience in coaching or mentoring roles (e.g. leading account team members as a Senior Digital Strategist)

  • Experience and proficiency using digital tools, including a CRM system and fundraising tools (ex, ActBlue, NGP, EveryAction, Mailchimp, ActionKit, ControlShift, or others).

  • Proven curiosity to learn and test new ways of digital fundraising and campaigning — and then share findings teamwide.

  • Deep experience in writing copy for fundraising. You understand how to motivate donors, and can seamlessly switch between different client voices.

  • Highly creative, innovative thinker capable of managing all aspects of multiple projects simultaneously including: digital launch, list growth strategy, copywriting, email production, reporting, and analytics. 

  • Ability to work independently but also in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment. You’re prepared for priorities and processes to be fluid and change as Veracity continues to grow.

  • Comfortable handling a fast-paced, dynamic virtual working environment where your communication with coworkers and clients will be remote. You’ll need experience (or a quick willingness to learn!) online collaboration tools like Slack, Wrike, Google Drive, Hangouts, etc.

  • Proven ability to problem-solve technical, strategy, and client management challenges. 

  • Experience with training, coaching, and mentoring junior-level employees on digital fundraising practices and account management skills.

  • Proficiency using data to inform strategic recommendations and to determine best practices including experience with ROI and projections reporting.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the growth and success of 3-5 digital strategists. This includes onboarding + training, biweekly 1:1s, and biannual performance reviews. 

  • Ensuring that team members are following firm protocols and processes, and providing resources and guidance to course-correct if needed.

  • Ensuring high quality of work across their teams’ accounts, and giving constructive feedback when they’re not being met.

  • Serve as “point person” on two to three accounts leading the account team and daily internal and external account management.

  • Manage the execution and delegation of deliverables for email fundraising, digital advertising, social media, and/or other digital projects as required. This can include:

    • Development of client email + social content calendars

    • Drafting compelling content asking for grassroots donations

    • Code and segment emails to targeted universes on email CRM

    • Review performance and optimize program based on data 

    • Communicate successes to client and maintain a positive client relationship

  • Take part in the greater management of Veracity including the business development process, company-wide issues, and communication of that work to staff.

  • Take initiative to experiment, try new things, and bring fresh perspective to internal and external relationships in collaboration with teammates and direct reports.

Salary and Benefits

People Operations Manager


The People Operations Manager is directly responsible for the people operations that keep Veracity running, including contracting, invoicing, crucial, recruitment and hiring, onboarding and offboarding, payroll and benefits, all human resource investigations and records, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. We’re looking for someone with proven experience creating talent pipelines for future staffing needs, building diverse candidate pools, and hiring people with the ability to grow beyond their role.

Key Responsibilities

Hiring, onboarding, and offboarding

  • Seek out new, diverse talent by posting openings across the internet.

  • Move applicants through the hiring process.

  • Track metrics across team retention and applications to provide insights for leadership and DEI.

  • Manages employee offboarding, including exit interviews with employee’s manager.

  • A passion for process improvement. Building and scaling Veracity’s recruitment and hiring process in previous positions and are continuously adjusting things with a desire to make good things great.

 Diversity, equity and inclusion liaison

  • Partner with the Diversity Board to help coordinate discussions and any action steps

  • Keep Diversity Board hours tracking updated, and ensure timely stipend payment 

  • Furnishing resources and requested data, info on processes during Diversity Board meetings

Team operations

  • Coordinate team activities and morale boosters.

  • Help with scheduling for the leadership team and wider team as needed for project handovers, meetings and more.

  • Maintain internal weekly newsletter which provides key updates and information for the staff

  • Approving or denying team time off requests per team OOO request guidelines

  • As we transition back to a post space in 2022, reimagine our office space to support our team culture.

  • Coordinate performance reviews for both electoral and permanent staff, supporting the organization’s strong culture of feedback

  • Identify opportunities for culture building or training.

Experience and Skills

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Proficient in G Suite Products (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets etc).

  • 1+ years experience in People Operations / HR. Big plus if you have experience working with remote or distributed teams!

  • Commitment to establishing a culture of community and respect in the workplace, including the contribution of best practices and a focus on DEI programming

  • Experience with talent recruitment. Conducted and trained others on how to lead impactful interviews and have successfully built diverse and deep pipelines that align with projected staffing needs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills -- both internally and externally. The ability to maintain and manage strong relationships with hiring managers, candidates, and senior stakeholders within the firm.

  • Familiarity with recruiting and hiring software (i.e. BambooHR, Workable, Greenhouse). 

  • 1+ years in DEI programming not required but a major plus. At minimum, have a desire and drive to build an anti-racist, equitable workplace and willingness to aid leadership in implementing and evaluting DEI best practices

Graphic Designer


If designing stuff, from logos to websites, is your passion; if you are interested in working at a start-up firm whose team members’ mission and purpose extend beyond the work immediately in front of them, then this is the job for you!

Digital Strategy Assistant Internship


We’re looking for several politically and technically savvy interns who are interested in digital media, communications, political advocacy and online organizing. At Veracity, you’ll gain first hand experience consulting for U.S. House and Senate campaigns as well as smaller, local races, plus non-profit advocacy organizations of all kinds.

If you like writing, spend too much time on social media, and are passionate about politics and advocacy, then this internship is for you. We’re looking for outgoing, creative individuals with strong writing and researching skills who like to work in teams but can also take initiative and work independently. Technical skill sets such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Photoshop, Google Adwords/Analytics, GIS, or data analysis are a plus.

Digital Advertiser


Veracity Media is a progressive digital strategy and political consulting firm based in Washington D.C. We're working on dozens of Congressional campaigns, Statewide races, as well as down-ballot contests all across the country, and we need a Digital Advertiser to implement and manage digital advertising campaigns across our clients. This includes display/retargeting, video, mobile, SEM, email marketing, and Facebook advertising.   • Experience managing spend rates, bidding, and overall budgets across platforms.

  • Experience running ad campaigns from knowing when to start those conversations, to budgeting to optimizing to knowing what to report to clients and how (could be in a different field, though)

  • Experience drafting ad content, giving creative direction for static and video creative

  • Experience drafting compelling ad copy

Jr. Digital Strategist


Junior Digital Strategists (JDS) are self starters, with little previous relevant work experience. JDS are great writers, problem-solvers, team players, great communicators, and know when to ask questions/to use resources available to them to get to the bottom of the issue (or the solution!). While generally they don’t have a lot of client facing or digital experience they are able to identify where they need help or further resources and reach out to the right people.  

Experience and Skills

  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in the political, digital, or communications space. You might not have much client-facing experience or a deep familiarity with running a digital program, but you can ID what you don’t know and ask for help to grow.

  • Strong writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills, on short deadlines

  • Strong familiarity with and interest in the American electoral system and current political and domestic issues

  • Meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to manage several moving pieces of a project at once, from assignment to delivery, in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to think creatively under pressure

  • Ability to understand a message, conduct research to inform that message, and translate that into compelling and accurate content

  • Ability to analyse and read data in order to inform strategic decision-making
